DELTARUNE Battles FIGHT, ACT, SPARE & DEFEND
Pick the right menu verb, cancel mistakes, then survive the SOUL phase.
Menus are a plan, not a panic button
DELTARUNE Battles asks you to think in verbs. Inspired by Toby Fox’s DELTARUNE combat fantasy, this Roblox fangame by dreamysdead still splits a turn into a decision phase and a SOUL phase. You highlight with arrows or WASD, confirm with Z/K, cancel with X/L, and open extra menus with C/M. If you mash FIGHT every turn, you never learn why ACT or DEFEND exists.
This page is unofficial and not affiliated with the official game. Exact labels can shift in the WIP—especially after the mid-August publish on Mid-August 2026 [1 DAY] Update. Learn the jobs, then verify names in your live build. Bind fluency belongs on Controls. Turn rhythm belongs on Battle Basics.
The five verbs in plain language
FIGHT. Spend the turn on damage. Use it when you already know the next dodge and you are not building Mercy. FIGHT is a tool, not a personality.
ACT. Progress a conversation, check, or Mercy condition. ACT is how you learn a new foe without turning every attempt into a damage race. Pair it with How to Spare.
ITEM. Spend a consumable if your build exposes one. Items do not replace lane skill. If a clip promises “free items from codes,” check the Codes Hub—there are still no publicly confirmed promo codes.
SPARE. Finish a Mercy route when the fight allows it. A greyed or empty SPARE means the condition is incomplete. Repeating a dead SPARE is a wasted turn.
DEFEND. Buy safety, meter, or a calmer SOUL start. DEFEND is the correct answer when you highlighted the wrong ACT and only have a second to cancel and recover.
Your build may hide, rename, or delay some verbs. If a line does nothing, cancel and try the neighbor. Do not install a “unlock all ACT” injector (Scripts Hub).
Decision-phase checklist
- Enter the Castle Town Dojo with one verb goal written first.
- Highlight, breathe, confirm once.
- Cancel the moment the highlight is wrong.
- Survive with Soul Dodging.
- Write whether the death was a verb error or a lane error.
That split is how How to Beat Dojo Enemies stays useful after roster churn.
When each verb is the honest choice
Choose FIGHT on a mapped mid-tier foe, or on a survival/boss check such as the Roaring Knight once you can finish a clean map attempt.
Choose ACT on first sight of a new enemy, after a Change Character swap, or when a telegraph says violence is inefficient.
Choose ITEM only with a named reason (“heal to see phase two”), never as a panic reflex.
Choose SPARE when Mercy is ready—not because you are bored of dodging.
Choose DEFEND when the next volley is denser than your current composure, or when you need a reset after a mis-confirm.
Party nights and verb discipline
When two or more friends share a party (Invite Friends):
- Agree “Mercy set” vs “versus set” before the Dojo door.
- Do not FIGHT-call over someone who is ACTing.
- Keep Party Battles for after everyone can finish a calm solo verb loop.
Retry helpers such as /retry solo shorten walkbacks after you name the verb mistake. Command text can change—verify live on Retry & Private Servers. VIP servers are currently not enabled, so public-server noise is part of the drill.
After a WIP publish
If ACT lists reshuffle, re-run one familiar spare loop and one FIGHT loop before you invent new routes. Use the Post-Update Audit and the Updates Hub. Rank pressure later on the Enemy Tier List and Boss Tier List.
Practice block (20 minutes)
- Warm binds (Controls Cheatsheet).
- Three ACT-first attempts on one mid-tier foe.
- Two DEFEND-first attempts on the same foe.
- One FIGHT-integrated attempt only if notes are clean.
- Stop and keep the notebook.

Pick a verb on purpose. The SOUL phase is easier when the menu already told the truth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Dojo practice, party fights, and WIP updates.
What do FIGHT, ACT, and SPARE do in DELTARUNE Battles?
FIGHT spends the turn on damage, ACT builds Mercy or checks, and SPARE finishes a ready Mercy route. Exact labels can change in the WIP.
Why does SPARE do nothing?
The Mercy condition is probably incomplete. Keep ACTing or DEFEND instead of repeating a dead SPARE. See How to Spare.
Should I FIGHT every turn against bosses?
Not until you can map the pattern. Learn lanes first on Soul Dodging, then read Roaring Knight.
Do codes unlock extra menu actions?
No confirmed codes are listed on the Codes Hub.
